Sony has released the latest Playstation 4 system software update, version 2.50, which was codenamed Yukimura. The update will be available as of today(3/26/15) adding remote and share play and social media enhancements.

A new suspend/resume feature is being added which will provide players the ability to resume a game where they left off without have to wait for a long reload time.. Place the game in Rest Mode when finished, then when ready to play again, pressing the Playstation button will quickly get the gamer back into the action of the game.

One feature that many have been waiting for is the ability to back up and restore the hard drive to and from an external USB drive. Screenshots, video clips, saved data, patches and settings can now all be saved.

Many of us have games that we have yet to earn a Trophy but show up on the list. Those games can now be removed and only the games where trophies that have been earned will be shown. Further improvements on the Trophy List section include searching by Earned Date, Not Earned and Grade .

Searching for Facebook friends will now be available as long as the player has linked their PSN account to their Facebook profile. Friend and Real Name requests will now be able to be sent simultaneously, currently they can only be sent separately. A new section titled “Friends Who Play This” is also being added to each game detail page. Now friends of the players will be shown when they are online and currently playing the game.

The Party creation system on the Playstation 4 has been updated, with Sony stating that the number of steps required to create on has been streamlined and reduced.

Remote Play and Share Play will now support 60 fps. Software updates will now be installed automatically, and sub-accounts can be upgraded to master accounts. Industry professionals, such as developers, producers, designers and community managers will now appear with a badge on their PSN account.

The “Yukimura” update will make it to share favorite gaming moments with friends. Screenshots will now automatically be captured when a Trophy is earned, and can be shared on Facebook, Twitter or via Message all by pushing the the “Share” button, along with sharing video clips on is also being added using the same button.

The update will also be adding and improving current accessibility options. This include a customized button assignment on the Dualshock 4 controller which will help gamers that have visual limitation zoom pictures and invert colors for all game, apps, and all system functions. Text-to-speech, enlarged text on the graphical user interface including Message and Part. Bolder fonts and higher contrast UI will help also for all system applications, though will not be available in-game or third party applications.

The PlayStation Vita system and PlayStation App for smartphones and tablets will also receive system software updates, adding features to those added to the Playstation 4 system with the update. PS Vita update version 3.50 and PlayStation App update version 2.50 will add new accessibility options, including enlarge text, increase contrast and more. This update also enables PS Vita systems to support 60 fps streaming for Remote Play.
