Oh for god’s sake…

You may finish Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and go ‘Hmmm…I want to see more of Lightning”. That could be a possibility as Motomu Toriyama, director of the Final Fantasy XIII line, said that she could end up appearing in future Final Fantasy games.

Granted these would be cameos and not as a main or supporting character. Personally, I’m wondering why all the focus but Toriyama has an explanation for us:

“For Lightning, her story ends here in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13, as this game is meant as a finale to this series, but we know that Lightning is an extremely popular character, even when compared to other Final Fantasy characters. So there is a possibility that Lightning would appear in other future Final Fantasy titles, not as a protagonist, but as a guest character.”

If she appears in spin-offs (like more games in the Dissidia series for example) or even in a Kingdom Hearts game, I can see how that would work, but if Lightning is going to be showing up randomly in main games which take place in a whole new world, I’m going to ask ‘Why?’ What would be the point?
