The Kickstarter for Mighty No. 9 ended last night and, needless to say, the people funding didn’t let up in those final hours since the game closed with over 4 million dollars in funding (including Paypal).
The acquisition of that much money also means one other thing: Mighty No. 9 has broken through every single stretch goal on the list. Now we have the following additions to look forward to when the game draws nearer to release:
- Two extra stages
- Releases on all major consoles, home and portable (PC, Mac, Linux, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, 3DS, and the PS Vita)
- New Game +
- Turbo Mode
- Documentary that details the making of the game
- Boss Rush Mode
- Challenge Mode
- Extra end stage and accompanying boss
- Online co-op challenge mode with Beck and Call
- Intro stage with accompanying boss
- A support character
- A stage and boss for Call in single-player
- Optional chiptune soundtrack and FX
- Online battle race mode
As far as where I stand, I think any of the stage additions and the porting to multiple systems are the best ones. Others may find that some of these other goals are more intriguing to them. I remember days ago when I thought it wasn’t going to even reach the extra end stage, but oh boy was I wrong on that one.
Now that funding is all done, it’s up to Inafune and Comcept to deliver on the final product of which I don’t have any high doubts they will fail for us. If this Kickstarter has shown Mr. Inafune anything is that people appreciate him as a video game developer and love his work; I’m sure he’ll do everything in his power to bring this game to light for us all.
Even though there is no release date stated, many of the bonuses that came with funding amounts have a April 2015 date attached, so we might be expecting the game around that time. Of course, by bonuses, I mean things like the physical case for show, the art book, strategy guide, and a digital copy of the game itself.
The funding is done; now the waiting begins. How many of you are as excited for Mighty No. 9 as I am (hint: very!)?
