Indiecade is fast approaching, people. If you couldn’t figure it out based on the name alone, I’m going to lay some knowledge on you right now (so please, pay attention). Indiecade is the most prominent festival/conference for independent developers in the gaming industry. Indie devs from everywhere gather to display their games for the public to see, which would be a pretty awesome thing to attend (if you ask me). Anyways, they also have a competition to see what the best games of the festival are (this honor has been claimed by games such as Guacamelee, Fez, Braid and Limbo). Yesterday, they announced the finalists from this year. They are as follows.

Out of those games, there are a few that stand out to me. Rogue Legacy from Cellar Door Games has been shaping up very well (I have seen the beta/alpha played, and I could definitely get into that). Gone Home is also a top contender, seeing as it has been called a magnificent experience that rivals that of Journey (I think someone made that comparison…but I could be wrong). Reus also looked cool, but I can’t judge that one yet (considering Karras still hasn’t posted his review…). Regardless, there’s a pretty stellar line up this year.

You can be sure to catch some Indiecade coverage this October!
